SEASON 5 of 1,000-lb. Sisters has begun filming as Tammy Slaton and her family have signed contracts for more episodes, The U.S. Sun can exclusively report.
An insider close to the production claimed the TLC crew began filming the upcoming season of 1000-Lb. Sisters on Saturday, September 30.
The source shared: “Tammy and her family began filming Season 5 over the weekend.”
Reportedly, the TLC production team plans to film the fifth season in a two-parter segment – similar to Season 4, but “a bit different.”
Tammy, 37, has teased her fans that the second part of the current season will be out before the end of the year, but the network has not made an official announcement yet.
The insider explained that it’s good news for the cast that the cameras are starting up again and said: “Every season they get a pay raise.”
Previously, The U.S. Sun reported that the fifth season’s production was in jeopardy because Tammy and the cast were at odds with TLC over salaries and the show narrative.
The tensions have appeared to come to a standstill as the insider shared Tammy, her sister Amy, 35, and others have signed contracts for more episodes.
According to the source: “TLC is looking ahead to a sixth season, but nothing is official yet.”
UNDER THE KNIFE
After rumors that Season 4 would be the end of the TLC fan-favorite show following sisters Tammy and Amy’s weight loss journey, a source claimed more upcoming episodes are underway.
“The season will be about Tammy’s upcoming skin removal surgery,” the insider revealed.
After the 1000-Lb. Sisters star had her gastric bypass surgery last year, she shredded even more weight.
Tammy dropped from 717 pounds to close to 340 pounds from fall 2021 to this past summer – nearly 400 pounds in total.
All of her rapid weight loss has left lots of excess skin and she’s reportedly ready to go under the knife.
“The excess skin around Tammy’s neck is a huge source of insecurity for her,” the insider added.
The source claims Season 5 will majorly focus on Tammy’s preparations for the surgery.
A timeline has not yet been confirmed.
‘NOT NATURAL!’
Tammy slammed TLC producers for “forcing drama” during Caleb’s funeral, which will be featured somewhere in the second part of Season 4.
According to an insider, Tammy said: “The filming of the funeral was ‘completely not natural’ and things were put in there to make it seem sad when it really wasn’t that sad.”
The source relayed that Tammy shared: “People were having fun, but [TLC producers] made it depressing.”
Tammy’s friend said the star was concerned the way TLC filmed the funeral would spark rumors she was quitting her diet because of her grief.
The source claimed: “She isn’t emotionally relapsing or going back on her diet – she’s doing great.”
SLIMMEST SISTER
In fact, Tammy’s doing so well that she may soon weigh less than Amy.
“Tammy weighs only 30 pounds more than Amy right now,” a source claimed.
The insider shared: “It’s hard for Amy to focus on herself as she’s taking care of the two kids.”
Amy shares her two sons, Gage, two, and Glenn, one, with her estranged husband Michael Halterman, 40.
