There was a lot of conflicting criticism about the debut of 90 Day: The Single Life season 2, but these are the complaints most fans can agree on.

When 90 Day: The Single Life season 2 premiered, it didn’t get the warmest reception from viewers. There were many issues in the first episode that made it hard for fans to watch the show, and it’s a bad start for the once-popular spin-off.

Like the first season, the second The Single Life installment features 90 Day Fiancé franchise alums who are navigating the waters of singlehood and searching for love. However, season 2 already seems to be a mess, from the terrible casting decisions to the overly-scripted feel of the show, and there were a lot of complaints from viewers.

Fans are always going to find things in the franchise to criticize, but there were several specific issues that viewers had with the first episode of The Single Life season 2. These are some of the major gripes the audience walked away with after episode 1.

Jesse Meester’s Bare Butt

Jesse has never been a particularly well-liked cast member in the franchise, and on The Single Life, fans are seeing way more of him than they ever wanted. For some reason, TLC decided that what audiences want is gratuitous shots of Jesse’s butt, which made an appearance not once, but twice in the episode. Jesse’s casting was panned by viewers, and the repeated views of his full moon didn’t change their minds about him.

Weird Editing

The entire first episode felt very formulaic and structured, but one thing that stood out to fans was the questionable editing and filming decisions. Specifically, there were bizarre close-ups during each cast member’s ITM interviews. Viewers couldn’t help but notice when the camera zoomed in uncomfortably close on each star’s face, and it was a little unnerving.

Big Ed Brown

Big Ed is proof positive that fans’ opinions and wishes are ignored by the network. After Ed’s behavior on 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days and the first season of The Single Life, viewers were sick of his manipulative ways. Many fans even called for a boycott of Big Ed after an abusive call with his now-fiancée Liz Woods leaked. Ed is easily one of the most controversial and despised cast members, and his inclusion in season 2 has not gone over well.

Stephanie Matto’s Cooking Show ‘Porn’

The entire episode was hyper-sexualized, but fans seemed the most grossed out by the segment about Stephanie masturbating to a baking show video. She said she likes “cake not c**k” and viewers gagged as the sound of a vibrator could be heard while Stephanie’s laptop showed what looked like crushed pineapple being mixed with oatmeal. Fans weren’t sure if the show was trying to be funny or sexy, but it came off as disgusting.

Natalie Mordovtseva’s Awkward Flirting

There’s a lot about The Single Life season 2 that feels scripted, but Natalie’s segments were some of the most cringey in the episode. Some fans thought she seemed childlike and awkward when interacting with the Floridian locals on the beach, and the whole scene caused a lot of second-hand embarrassment. There’s something about Natalie’s energy this season that is off-putting to viewers, and her storyline isn’t off to a good start.

For many fans, the first episode did not bode well for the rest of 90 Day: The Single Life season 2, and a lot of viewers are worried that future episodes will deliver more of the same. Though there will always be complaints circling around about the 90 Day Fiancé and its spin-offs, the criticisms fans had for episode 1 were near-universally agreed upon.
